The North Merseyside Action Plan covers the Local Authorities of Liverpool, St. Helens, Knowsley and Sefton. It seeks to ensure that the natural heritage is managed more effectively for the benefit of present and future generations, as well as for its own sake.

The Local Area has a wide array of habitats and species including some which are found nowhere else. The action plans cover 44 habitats and species which are of national and/or local priority for conservation action.

There are also five common themes embracing all the action plans.

What this North Merseyside Action Plan shows is that joint action can both retain economic opportunity and vibrant communities and secure and enhance the rich natural environment that adds so much to our 'quality of life'.
