Welcome to North West Biodiversity

North West England is rich in wildlife and habitats - our coasts and estuaries, uplands and wetlands are of international importance and are enjoyed by millions of residents and visitors. The quality of our environment - in and around urban areas and throughout our agricultural landscapes - is central to our prosperity. A rich and varied environment makes the North West an attractive place to live and work, to visit and invest. This is why maintaining and improving our region's biodiversity is so important for our future (Lord Thomas of Macclesfield, 2000).

This website is a resource produced by the NWBF, a partnership of public, private and voluntary organisations working together at the regional level to conserve and enhance the biodiversity of the North West for wildlife and people.
